Driver Education at West Aurora High School

West Aurora High School offers a “zero hour” program to most students attending a parochial high school in Aurora. Students who reside in the Plainfield, West Chicago, Wheaton-Warrenville School Districts boundaries are not eligible to participate in our program.

Fall 2020

Overview: West Aurora High School offers a “zero hour” program to most students attending a parochial high school in Aurora. Students who reside in the Plainfield, West Chicago, Wheaton-Warrenville School Districts boundaries are not eligible to participate in our program.

Dates of program: Aug. 25th, 2020 – End of Nov.(Ending date depends on number of students enrolled) Program will not meet on days that West High or parochial schools have non-attendance days.

Time: 6:15 am – 7:10am (Transportation is provided to Aurora Parochial Schools) Enter Door #3 on Galena Blvd side of building by tennis courts

Attendance: Students may only miss 5 classroom dates during semester. Behind the Wheel driving lessons can be rescheduled. Classes missed beyond the 5 allowed must be made up the following semester or on days scheduled with instructor.

Behind the Wheel Driving: Mondays and Fridays are typically behind the wheel driving days. Students will usually drive only one of the two days each week.

Classroom: Meets Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Cost: $350 (Check, Money Order, Cash) Checks and Money Orders should be made out to West Aurora High School and $100 is due on the first day of the program. 2nd and 3rd payments can be made by credit card with West High Bookkeeper or by check, money order and cash. If you plan on paying by credit card, please contact Lori Boyd who is the WAHS bookkeeper and her number at 630-301-5524. Please tell her your students name and that they are participating in the Parochial Driver Education Program.

Additional Cost: $20 check or money order made out to SOS. This pays for learner permit and 1st driver license.

Aug. 25th, 2020 students will do the following on the first day:

Enter door #3 (by tennis courts on Galena side of bldg.)

1. Permit Test (Rules of Road Books available at your parochial school)

2. Vision Exam

3. $100 cash, check or money order made out to West Aurora

High School due Jan. 14th

4. $20 check or money order made out to SOS is due Jan 14th

5. Enrollment is open to all who attend the 1st day of program (No Cap on Enrollment) Must be 15 years of age by Aug.25th.
